Shopify Payments alternative

Did Shopify Payments reject you? Your checkout still works.

Shopify Payments is Stripe under the hood. If Stripe rejects you for a high-risk category, Shopify Payments does the same — same underwriting, same algorithmic bans. WooshPayment installs an independent branded checkout powered by Whop, on YOUR domain. Your Shopify store stays the same, only the payment processor changes.

Which to use when

Better for: WooshPayment + Whop

Shopify merchants rejected by Shopify Payments at signup or suspended after an internal audit, dropshippers stuck 'in review' for more than 2 weeks, high-risk brands wanting a branded checkout independent of the Shopify ecosystem.

Better for: Shopify Payments

Low-risk brands already approved and operating on Shopify Payments with chargeback rate <0.5%. If Shopify Payments processes smoothly, 1.5-2.4% fees are competitive — don't switch.

When Shopify Payments is a trap, not a choice

Shopify Payments is Stripe with Shopify clothes

Shopify Payments is powered by Stripe under the hood (Shopify has a processing partnership with Stripe in the US/EU). That means it has the same algorithmic underwriting filters as Stripe: same policies on dropshipping, supplements, chargeback rate. If Stripe rejects you, Shopify Payments rejects you. Thinking you can escape Stripe by using Shopify Payments is a misunderstanding: same wall, different logo.

If rejected at signup, no useful appeal

When Shopify Payments rejects your application during onboarding, you get a generic email like 'After reviewing your application... we cannot accept you'. No specifics, no appeal, no category. Support responses are templates. The real solution isn't insisting — it's using a processor with different DNA.

Lock-in: your entire business depends on one entity

If you accept Shopify Payments as your only processor, your whole business (storefront + processing + payout) depends on one entity: Shopify. A single ToS violation, an internal audit, a chargeback flag, and you potentially lose everything in a day. With WooshPayment + Whop, the processor is separate from the storefront — more resilient by design.

When Shopify Payments works, it's great

Honest take: if you sell low-risk products (legit clothing brands, tech gadgets, home decor) and Shopify Payments accepts you, the 1.5-2.4% fees are the lowest on the market and integration is seamless. WooshPayment makes sense only if Shopify Payments is NOT an option (rejected, suspended, high-risk category) or if you want a second processor as redundancy.

How to migrate from Shopify Payments to WooshPayment + Whop

No need to disable Shopify Payments to test WooshPayment. Redundancy mode allows A/B testing: start with 80% Shopify Payments / 20% WooshPayment, then switch gradually.

  1. 1

Keep Shopify Payments active (DON'T disable if you have it)

  2. 2

Create Whop Business + API key (5 min)

  3. 3

Create free WooshPayment account, connect Shopify via Custom App

  4. 4

Paste API key in Dashboard → Whop Integration

  5. 5

Script tag installs in interceptor mode — doesn't alter the theme

  6. 6

Test on mobile + Apple Pay before switching 100%

If Shopify Payments says no, your checkout must say yes.

Setup in 10 minutes. WooshPayment + Whop on top of your existing Shopify store.
